Who she is
Candace Loubert
Candace is a dancer, visual artist, body worker and teacher
and is trained in massage and shiatsu therapy. She is co-founder and former
artistic director of LADMMI, a college level, professional, modern dance training
program in Montreal where she has taught for twenty-five years. Her work in
mask and creative development, in the core curriculum of the program, is the
result of deep integrative personal research using various somatic techniques,
dance/movement improvisation, authentic movement and expressive art techniques.
She has been the recipient of two major senior arts grants from the Canada Council
for the Arts since 1997, for research and documentation of her mask and creative
process work, Body Focused Creative Resources.
Candace completed the Bodysoul Rhythms Leadership Training program and apprenticeship
in Oct. 2003, with Jungian Analyst Marion Woodman and her colleagues Dr. Paula
Reeves, Ann Skinner and Mary Hamilton. She is on the teaching faculty of the
Marion Woodman Foundation (2004, 2005, 2006).
Candace leads workshops for women in Canada, the United States and in Ireland.
She teaches with Dr Paula Reeves, psychotherapist from Atlanta, Georgia and
author of Women's Intuition and Heart Sense. She works also in partnership with
Jungian Analyst Marian Dunlea in both Ireland and in the Montreal area.
Candace brings to all her work, her deep connection to the wildness of nature,
which she lives close to and her sensitivity to the pulse of movement song in
the body. She shares through her teaching, her love of play with expressive
artwork, movement and music with “children of all ages “in professional
and personal development projects.
