“During the first improv(childhood stories), I explored movement that has never come up inside me before.”

“I think it really connected me to myself… To my roots I guess…exploring our stories with paint dance, breath, emotions - such a pleasure.’”

‘An important aspect of the course …was the keeping of a journal/a sketchbook…it allowed us to record our thoughts and feelings either through words or drawings.’

‘finding incredible moments of cohesion and depth in improvs… stepping outside my boxes and challenging myself to recognize my force, my limits and my habits. I’m finding ways to connect to the outside world while maintaining the authenticity of my dance’

“I realized how it (my story) has become part of my personal mythology…..I felt a deep sensory connection to my own imagery.”

“When I listened to the tape again ( of my childhood story) so many feelings flooded back through my body….the next class we explored our stories through movement, painting and sculpture. I fell very deeply into my story… I felt intense energy in my chest, down my sides and in my legs…”

“The work drawing my Body Map helped me bring awareness to tensions I carried in my body- I found my drawing too much inside the lines and I linked that with my dance…my improvisations changed- and I began to draw with vibrant colors that I don’t usually use- I filled myself up with sun! I had not really drawn my legs on the map and in my improv I found circular movement and a strength coming in me – I drew a spiral in my left leg where I felt the energy- dancing this spiral filled me with energy and it came easily…”
